Changing the Fuel Filter Element
1 Stop the engine.
2 Open the engine compartment top cover. K Engine
Cover ( T 3-24).
3 Place a receptacle under the filter to catch any fuel.
Slacken tap B.
4 Support the bowl C and unscrew bolt D. Remove the
bolt D, remove and discard washer E and 'O' ring F.
5 Remove filter element G, bowl C and base H as a
unit.
6 Discard 'O' ring J.
7 Separate element G, bowl C and base H.
8 Remove and discard seals K (3 off), discard 'O' ring
M.
9 Lubricate all seals and 'O' rings with correct fuel oil.
10 Fit new seals K (3 off) to base H, bowl C and element
G, fit 'O' ring J to the centre of the element G.
11 Fit element G, bowl C, base H, to the head L.
12 Insert centre bolt D after fitting new washer E and 'O'
ring F. Tighten the bolt D carefully by hand to ensure
that all seals are correctly seated. Fit new 'O' ring M
to tap B and insert tap into base H.
13 Tighten bolt D to 8-11 Nm (6-8 lbf ft, 0.8-1.1 kgf m).
