Checking the Alternator Belt Tension
1 Park the machine on level ground.
2 Stop the engine.
3 Open the engine compartment top cover.
!MWARNING
Make sure the engine cannot be started. Disconnect
the battery before doing this job.

4 When correctly set the belt has 7 mm (0.28 in)
deflection at point X.

the battery before doing this job.

1 Loosen bolts A and B which secure the alternator.
!MCAUTION
Any leverage required to position the alternator must
be applied at the drive end bracket only, using a
wooden lever.

2 Reposition the alternator until belt deflection at point
X is 7 mm (0.28 in).
3 Tighten bolts A and B.
4 Close and lock the engine compartment top cover.
