5.6 Air conditioning and ventilation
CAUTION!
High temperatures may irreparably damage the module!
● The operating temperature inside the control cabinet must not exceed
the permissible ambient temperature of the modules. If this cannot be
guaranteed through natural heat dissipation, an air conditioning of the
control cabinet must be provided.
● The top cover must be closed for cooling the module.
The DU 3xx/x can be equipped either with an cooling element (Zink casting
with aluminium fins) or with cold plate for mounting on an external cooling
(see 3.5 Overview variants).
5.6.1 Use of air filters
To ensure that the contamination does not exceed contamination level 2 (ac-
cording to EN 61131-2), the device must be installed in a dustproof, closed
control cabinet. By Variant D3-DU 3x5/x the higher-level enclosure (e.g. cab-
inet) must achive IP code IP54.
Fan openings of the control cabinet must be equipped with air filters. The fil-
ter elements must be cleaned or replaced regularly.
Information
Contamination level 2, description according to standard:
"The occurring contamination is generally not conductive. However, tempo-
rary conductivity must be expected due to condensation."
