6.8 RT ethernet slave interface
The DU 3xx/xcan be equipped with a RT Ethernet slave field bus interface.
The slave interface (X42A and X42B) is located on the front side of the mod-
ule and is used for communication in real time operation (Real time ether-
net). Via software the interface can be configurated as:
EtherCAT
PROFINET
EtherNet/IP
Autocrossing is supported.
6.8.1 EtherCAT
EtherCAT is a real-time Ethernet protocol based on Industrial Ethernet.
The following specifications and standards are implemented:
EtherCAT Specification ETG.1000 (equates to IEC 61158 Part 2-6 Type
12 documents)
EtherCAT Specification Part 5 – Application Layer services specification.
