8.4.2 Response to module errors
If an error occurs in the safety control, it will be displayed on the diagnostic
display (display).
If an error occurs in the safety control in variant D3-DU 3x5/x, it switches into
a safe operating status (outputs off).

Danger by restart
Internal safety functions may cause a shutdown of the machine. Eliminating
the cause of malfunction, or resetting, can cause the machine to start up un-
expectedly. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to disconnect the power
supply of the module in case of repair work or maintenance work before
starting the troubleshooting.
8.4.3 Switch off
The device has a robust design, so a hard switch off is possible.
For the switch off protection of a complete system, appropriate concepts
have to be realized at the application level (e.g. integration of an external
UPS).
Caution
SIf there are further power supply units in the system, they must also be
turned off, to ensure that no electrical voltages are present at the inputs
(and possibly the relay outputs) of the safety control.

Ensure voltage-free state
The status LEDs and other display elements turning off is not a sufficient in-
dicator that the device is disconnected from the power supply and is deener-
gized.
8.4.4 USB overload switch-off
An overload of one of the USB connections at the DU 3xx/x results in a
switch-off of the port. This remains as long as the overload is present.
8.4.5 Behavior with missing license
If a valid license is missing after the startup of the device or an invalid li-
cense is found, the message "Licenses required" is displayed in the second
line of the display.
