8.5 Battery monitoring
The DU 3xx/x has a changeable battery. The battery supplies the SRAM and
the real-time clock (RTC) when no external voltage is present.
Lifetime of the battery: 3 - 5 years.
Information
The battery test is carried out by the system:
● during start-up
● and weekly thereafter (provided the DU 3xx/x was not restarted in the
meantime).
When the "Battery weak" message appears for the first time, approximately
six months of battery reserve are available before a loss of data occurs. In
this case change the battery.
8.6 Fan monitoring
The DU 3xx/x has one or two replaceable fans.
The rotation speed is checked periodically. In case of underrunning a de-
fined value an error is setted. This error must be dealed with the application.
8.7 Temperature monitoring
The temperature of DU 3xx/x is checked via internal sensors. If the tempera-
ture violates an Alarm limit, a message will be sent and the application has
the possibility to react.

Caution
If in case of exceeding the alarm limit no appropriate measures are taken to
avoid a further rising of the temperature, the following hold of the control
could lead to serious damage of the machine/plant.
