6) Execute a restart of the control.
The backup has been executed.
Information
It is recommended to copy the backup file (image) onto a safe computing
system because the data safety of an USB stick can not be guaranted over
a long time.
KeStudio U4 provides the opportunity to install the created backup (image
file) as simulation on the PC. For more information see the online help of
KeStudio U4.
Create Backup with option D3-DU 3x5/x
If the DU 3xx/x is equipped with the option D3-DU 3x5/x an additional
backup of the safe configuration and the safe application can be created.
Therefore proceed as follows:
1) Establish a connection to the existing device via SafeEdit or SafePMT.
2) To save the safety application on the PC, open the menu entry Connec-
tion - Read - Configuration binary file in the Connection Dialog. This
procedure may last a few minutes.
3) Save the file (*.TOC) on the PC. The corresponding dialog opens as
soon as the reading of the configuration and programm is complete.
The backup of the safe application has been created.

because the data safety of an USB stick can not be guaranted over a long
time.
10.5 Restore backup / update firmware
The procedure to restore or update the control firmware is the same. Only
firmware of the functional control can be updated. Either the desired backup
or the desired new firmware version is located on the USB stick in kind of an
image file.
CAUTION!
During the backup process, the USB stick should not be removed and the
power should not be turned off. This can destroy the firmware of the compo-
nents and makes further operation impossible.
