6.10 (Only for D3-DU 3x5/x) Safe digital inputs (SDI) and Test
outputs (TDO)
If the DU 3xx/x is equipped with a safety control (D3-DU 3x5/x) it offers 20
safe digital inputs on the front (terminal X26A) each with an assigned test
output (TDO).
The safety control has four digital test outputs TDO which are multiple dis-
tributed at the connections of the safe digital inputs to recognize cross cir-
cuits between nearby lines and cross circuits to 24 V.
Information
For wiring of the error detection also note, that not every SDI has an own
independet test output, but that the test outputs can be assigned to different
multiple SDIs via the SafeEdit configuration.
The inputs are equipped with input filters internally.
Information
For detection of cross circuit and short circuit errors, each SDI must be con-
nected with its corresponding TDO. If redundant inputs are used it is rec-
ommended to use different TDOs.
The actual logical assignment of the test outputs TDO0 - TDO3 to each sin-
gle SDI is done in the safety application via SafeEdit
The test signals (TDOs) switch their signature at 62.5 Hz for each TDO out-
put. When projecting the outputs shall be loaded with a maximum total cur-
rent of 0.25 A and may only be used for detection of cross circuit and short
circuit.
For detailed information and for connection examples see safety manual
"Functional Safety" and onlinehelp of SafeEdit.
If a usage of TDOs is not possible alternative diagnosis measurements for
detecting cross circuits and short circuits of external wiring (e.g. regularly
functional testing) must be considered or exclusions of failure with installa-
tions measurements according to EN ISO 12849-2 must be done.
Information
If safety control is in state "stop" al test outputs are switched on, to be able
to use them e.g. for activation of an acknowledgement button for error quit-
ting.
