8 Operating behavior
8.1 Start-up
The start-up of the control begins automatically once the DU 3xx/x is pow-
ered on and is divided up into the following main stages:
● Initialization of the hardware
● BIOS start-up
● Start-up of the operating system and the application
Start-up requirements are:
● Voltage supply is connected correctly
● A bootable media (e.g. CFast card) with installed operating system is lo-
cated in the respective slot of the DU 3xx/x.
Boot sequence:
● USB-Key
● USB-Hard-Disk
● CFast card.
● USB-CD/DVD
Only for D3-DU 3x5/x
The integrated safety control automatically starts when the DU 3xx/x is pow-
ered on and starts up on its own. At start-up a synchronization of the func-
tional control and the safety control takes place.
The start-up of the safety control is divided up into following main stages:
● Initialization of the hardware
● Performing self tests
● Start-up application
WARNING!
During start-up of the safety control the outputs can be switched on for sev-
eral cycles (depending on the safety application). With safety analysis of the
end application it must be ensured that this behaviour can not lead to an
starting of the machine or personal injury.
8.1.1 Display during start-up
The progress of the respective step is indicated via the display on the mod-
ule. If errors are detected during start-up, an error message is displayed.
