Operating Gas Pressure Check and Ignition
Test
1. Make sure the gas supply is turned OFF.
2. Make sure the power is turned OFF at
the main disconnect switch.
WARNING
The safety interlock
switches are only to be
defeated temporarily while
performing this procedure.
Never operate the unit unless
all safety systems
are working correctly.
Serious Injury Could Result.
3. Open the left end frame door. This opens
a safety interlock switch. Normally, the
unit will not operate while a safety inter-
lock switch is open. As a temporary mea-
sure during this work, defeat the safety
interlock switch.
4. Using an Allen wrench, remove the up-
stream plug (Figure 2-30, A) at the back
of the first incoming gas valve, directly
behind the pilot connection (B).
5. Connect a water column manometer with
a 1/8" pipe fitting.
NOTE: The manometer will now
be able to indicate the gas
pressure immediately down-
stream of the installed regulator.
6. After the manometer is connected, turn
power ON at the main disconnect switch.
7. Open the external manual gas supply
valve.
After a short while, the downstream pres-
sure at the manometer should equalize and
indicate the same gas pressure as that
measured earlier upstream of the installed
regulator (not to exceed 11" of water col-
umn).
8. Make sure the PILOT TEST/RESET
switch on the flame safeguard is in the
OUT position (Figure 2-31).
9. Press the START button and turn the
SPEED knob to the slowest speed.
10. Turn the GAS switch to ON. The indica-
tor lamp above the GAS ON/OFF switch
should light.
Figure 2-31: The PILOT TEST/RESET button is
located on the flame safeguard.
Figure 2-30: The gas tap for operating pressure is
on the back side of the first gas valve,
directly opposite the pilot connection.
