Ifyouarereplacingaservercomponentintheserver,youneedtoturnofftheserverandperipheraldevices
anddisconnectallexternalcables.
Toreplaceanadapter,completethefollowingsteps.
Note:Ifyouradapterwaspreviouslyconfigured,backuporrecorditsconfigurationinformation,ifpossible,
beforereplacingtheadapter.Seethedocumentationforyouradapterforinformationandinstructions.
Step1.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainstheadaptertoanyunpaintedmetalsurfaceon
theserver;then,removetheadapterfromthepackage.
Step2.Placetheadapter,componentsideup,onaflat,static-protectivesurfaceandsetanyjumpersor
switchesasdescribedbytheadaptermanufacturer,ifnecessary.
Step3.Followthecablinginstructions,ifanycomewiththeadapter.Routetheadaptercablesbefore
youinstalltheadapter.
Step4.AlignthegoldfingerontheadapterwiththeconnectoronthePCIriser-cardassembly,then,insert
theadapterintothePCIriser-cardassembly.PresstheedgeoftheconnectorfirmlyintothePCI
riser-cardassembly.MakesurethattheadapterissecurelyinstalledinthePCIriser-cardassembly.
Important:MakesurethattheU-shapedopeninginthemetaladapterbracketengagesthetab
ontheexpansion-slotfiller.
