1.Checkthecontrol-panelassemblyonthefrontoftheserver.Ifthesystem-errorLEDislit,itindicates
thatanerrorhasoccurred.
2.CheckthefrontandrearoftheservertodeterminewhetheranycomponentLEDsarelit.

4.Lookatthesystemservicelabelinsidethecoveroftheserver,whichgivesanoverviewofinternal
components.Thisinformationcanoftenprovideenoughinformationtocorrecttheerror.
Systemeventlogs
ErrorcodesandmessagesaredisplayedinPOSTeventlog,system-eventlog,TMMeventlog,and
Diagnosticeventlog.
•System-eventlog:ThislogcontainsPOSTandsystemmanagementinterrupt(SMI)eventsandallevents
thataregeneratedbythebaseboardmanagementcontrollerthatisembeddedintheTMM.Youcanview
thecontentsofthesystem-eventlogthroughtheSetuputilityandthroughtheDiagnosticprogram(as
IPMIeventlog).Thesystem-eventlogislimitedinsize.Whenitisfull,newentrieswillnotoverwrite
existingentries;therefore,youmustperiodicallyclearthesystem-eventlogthroughtheSetuputility.
Whenyouaretroubleshootinganerror,youmighthavetosaveandthenclearthesystem-eventlogto
makethemostrecenteventsavailableforanalysis.
Messagesarelistedontheleftsideofthescreen,anddetailsabouttheselectedmessagearedisplayed
ontherightsideofthescreen.Tomovefromoneentrytothenext,usetheUpArrow(↑)andDown
Arrow(↓)keys.
SomeTMMsensorscauseassertioneventstobeloggedwhentheirsetpointsarereached.Whena
setpointconditionnolongerexists,acorrespondingdeassertioneventislogged.However,notallevents
areassertion-typeevents.
Note:Afterpoweringthesystemonforthefirsttimeorafterunexpectedpowercut,system-eventlog
timestampmightbeinaccurateforashortperiodoftime,butwillbecalibratedwithrealtimeclockor
externalNTPservershortlyafterwards.
•TMMeventlog:ThislogcontainsafilteredsubsetofallTMM,POST,andsystemmanagementinterrupt
(SMI)events.YoucanviewtheTMMeventlogthroughtheTMMwebinterface.Formoreinformation,

.YoucanalsoviewtheTMMeventlogthroughthe
Diagnosticprogram(astheASMeventlog).
