Turningontheserver
Usethisinformationtoturnontheserver.
Approximately5secondsaftertheserverisconnectedtoacpower,allfanswillstartrunningtoprovide
coolingwhiletheserverisconnectedtopowerandthepower-onbuttonLEDwillbeoff.Approximately
50secondsaftertheserverisconnectedtoacpower,morefansmightstartrunningtoprovidecooling
whiletheserverisconnectedtopower.Youcanturnontheserverbypressingthepower-controlbutton
andthepower-onbuttonLEDwillbelit.
Step1.Pressthepower-onbuttontoturnontheserver.
Step2.Theservercanalsobeturnedoninanyofthefollowingways:
•Ifapowerfailureoccurswhiletheserveristurnedon,theserverwillrestartautomaticallywhen
powerisrestored.
•IfyouroperatingsystemsupportstheWakeonLANfeature,theWakeonLANfeaturecanturn
ontheserver.
Note:When8GBormoreofmemory(physicalorlogical)isinstalled,somememoryisreserved
forvarioussystemresourcesandisunavailabletotheoperatingsystem.Theamountofmemory
thatisreservedforsystemresourcesdependsontheoperatingsystem,theconfigurationofthe
server,andtheconfiguredPCIoptions.
Turningofftheserver
Usethisinformationtoturnofftheserver.
Whenyouturnofftheserverandleaveitconnectedtoacpower,theservercanrespondtorequestsfrom
ThinkServerManagementModule(TMM),suchasaremoterequesttoturnontheserver.Whiletheserver
remainsconnectedtoacpower,oneormorefansmightcontinuetorun.Toremoveallpowerfromthe
server,youmustdisconnectitfromthepowersource.
Someoperatingsystemsrequireanorderlyshutdownbeforeyouturnofftheserver.Seeyour
operating-systemdocumentationforinformationaboutshuttingdowntheoperatingsystem.
