indicatesadrivefault.
2.IftheLEDislit,removethedrivefromthebay,wait45seconds,andreinsert
thedrive,makingsurethatthedriveassemblyconnectstotheharddiskdrive
backplane.
3.ObservetheassociatedgreenharddiskdriveactivityLEDandtheyellow
statusLED:
•IfthegreenactivityLEDisflashingandtheyellowstatusLEDisnotlit,the
driveisrecognizedbythecontrollerandisworkingcorrectly.RuntheLenovo
ThinkServerDiagnosticsToolharddiskdrivetesttodeterminewhetherthe
driveisdetected.
•IfthegreenactivityLEDisflashingandtheyellowstatusLEDisflashing
slowly,thedriveisrecognizedbythecontrollerandisrebuilding.
•IfneitherLEDislitorflashing,checktheharddiskdrivebackplane(goto
step4).
•IfthegreenactivityLEDisflashingandtheyellowstatusLEDislit,replace
thedrive.IftheactivityoftheLEDsremainsthesame,gotostep4.Ifthe
activityoftheLEDschanges,returntostep1.
4.Makesurethattheharddiskdrivebackplaneiscorrectlyseated.Whenitis
correctlyseated,thedriveassembliescorrectlyconnecttothebackplane
withoutbowingorcausingmovementofthebackplane.
5.Reseatthebackplanepowercableandrepeatsteps1through3.
6.Reseatthebackplanesignalcableandrepeatsteps1through3.
7.Reseatthebackplaneconfigurationcableandrepeatsteps1through3.
8.Suspectthebackplanesignalcableorthebackplane:
•Replacetheaffectedbackplanesignalcable.
•Replacetheaffectedbackplane.
9.RuntheLenovoThinkServerDiagnosticsTooltestsfortheSAS/SATAadapter
andharddiskdrives.
•Iftheadapterpassesthetestbutthedrivesarenotrecognized,replacethe
backplanesignalcableandrunthetestsagain.
•Replacethebackplane.
•Iftheadapterfailsthetest,disconnectthebackplanesignalcablefromthe
adapterandrunthetestsagain.
•Iftheadapterfailsthetest,replacetheadapter.
