[4] CAUTIONS ON SLOPE TRAVELING
• For slope traveling, take care of overturning or drifting.
• At the leaning of 15 degrees or more of the machine in a
slope, the incline detector actuates and it triggers a
buzzer. When the buzzer sounds, stop traveling and
change to a safer path.
• For slope traveling, always keep the traveling posture,
where the hook block is positioned to it’s regular stowage.
Otherwise, if it is fixed to the temporary stowage position
at rhe boom tip, it may become loose. Refer to "Operation
3.7 Traveling Posture" for details.
• In a 10 degrees or more slope, use reverse traveling to
climb it and forward travel for descend. Always direct the
machine front to the downward of the slope. Where
forward traveling to climb up and reverse traveling for
descend are used, it makes the machine unstable and
brings risks of overturning or drifting.
• For slope traveling, always keep the machine straight
forward the slope and never attempt turning around or
traversing it. When possible, route the level ground and
make a detour to avoide the slope, to secure safety
traveling.
• Keep traveling in a manner so that the machine can be
stopped whenever it slips or becomes un-stable.
When traveling down steep hills, use the travel lever and fuel
control dial to keep the travel speed low. When traveling down a
steep hill of more than 10 degrees, with the sprocket (A) side down,
and set the machine to the posture shown in the diagram on the
right, and lower the engine speed.
Travel down slopes with the sprocket (A) side down. If the
machine travels down with the sprocket (A) side up, the track
tends to become loose, and that can cause skipping pitches.
[TRAVELING DOWNHILL]
Put the travel lever in the NEUTRAL position. This will cause the
brake to be automatically applied.
[ENGINE STOPPED ON SLOPE]
If the engine stops when traveling uphill, move the travel levers to
the NEUTRAL position, lower the blade to the ground, stop the
machine, then start the engine again.
[CAUTIONS ON SLOPE]
• If the engine stops when the machine is on a slope, never use the left work equipment control lever to
swing operations. The upper structure will swing under it‟s own weight.
• Do not open or close the sliding door on slopes when traveling or operating. The operating effect may
change suddenly. Always keep sliding door locked.
• Be extremely careful when operating or closing the sliding door when the machine is stopped on a slope.
There is danger that the weight of the door may cause it to open or close suddenly.
