PROBLEM 7
The crawler track(s) will not travel in either direction.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
Damaged brake valve, worn control handle, damaged EDC, no voltage from handle to controller, no
voltage to pump EDC, node controller fault, low brake pressure, wiring or switch is damaged, pump,
motor, or gearbox is worn.
CHECKS
On the travel Diagnostic screen is the brake disengaged when the handle is moved in the problem direction?
On the travel Diagnostic screen is there a problem with the pump, brake, or motor?

Does the engine load when moving the problem handle in either direction?
Is the travel brake switch in the OFF position?
No
Yes

Are 28 volts present at the hydraulic brake solenoid
when the problem handle is moved? (See Section 3
- Checking Electrical Inputs/Outputs.)
No

Are 28 volts present at the brake?
Move switch to
the OFF position.
Yes No
Repair or replace the wiring or switch.
When moving the problem handle fully in both
directions, does the travel Diagnostic screen
show 100% handle command in the reverse or
forward direction?

Replace the
switch or wiring.
Does the track turn while moving
the handle and actuating the manual
override on the brake valve?

When moving the problem handle in both
directions, does the travel Diagnostic screen
show 100% pump control in each direction?

Is the voltage at the problem handle
greater than 0 when the handle is
moved? (See Section 3 - Diagnostic
Screen.)

Replace the solenoid.
Is pressure at the brake more
than 21 bar (305 psi)?
No
Yes
Manually stroke the pump. Does the pump pressurize?
Consult your Manitowoc dealer or
the Crane Care Lattice Team.

Repair the brake or gear box.
Is system pressure more than 21 bar
(305 psi)?
Replace the brake valve.
Re-adjust the charge pressure
relief or replace charge pump.

Is voltage present at pump EDC?

Replace the pump EDC.
Repair or replace the wiring.
Isolate the pump. Does the manually
stroked pump pressurize?
Repair or replace
