Pre-Trip Inspection Checklist
Before any trip check the following
Tires
 Correct tire pressures.
 Tires in good condition free from damage and uneven wear.
 Tread is of legal and acceptable depth.
Wheel Lug Nuts
 Ensure lug nuts are tensioned to the correct torque using a torque wrench.
 All lug nuts are in place.
Hitch and Chains
 Ensure hitch and chains are free of damage.
 The hitch locking mechanism functions correctly.
 The hitch is properly lubricated.
 Hitch articulates correctly.
Fire Extinguisher
 The extinguisher is properly mounted and within date.
 The extinguisher charge gauge is green.
Brakes, Breakaway and Stability Control Systems
 Brakes operate correctly when both operated by manual control and via pedal.
 The electronic stability control system is awake and in normal operation.
 Caravan battery is charged & breakaway pin is fully engaged.
Lights/Lamps & Reflectors
 Ensure all trailer end marker/clearance lamps are functioning.
 Ensure all indicator lights are functioning.
 Ensure all stop/brake lights (and reversing lights, if fitted) are functioning.
 Ensure all forward, rear, and side reflectors are present.
