Introduce RV Antifreeze into the Plumbing System
1. Attach the water pump converter kit to the water pump inlet.
2. Place the free end of the siphon hose into a container or bucket of appropriate RV antifreeze.
3. Turn on the water pump to pressurize the system and draw antifreeze into the plumbing.
Do not allow the water pump to run dry. Running the pump without water for extended time can cause
damage to the diaphragm and other internal components, leading to reduced efficiency or pump failure.
4. Begin with the closest faucet and open both the hot and cold sides until bright pink antifreeze
flows steadily.
5. Repeat this process for all faucets, including sinks, showers, and outdoor water connections (external shower & A-frame
faucet).
6. Flush the toilet until antifreeze appears in the bowl and flows consistently.
7. Pour a small amount of antifreeze into each drain, including sink and shower P-traps, to prevent freezing in these areas.
Final System Check
1. Ensure all faucets and valves are securely closed.
2. Verify that antifreeze is visible in all drains and toilet bowls.
3. Turn off the water pump and disconnect the water pump converter kit.
4. Store any remaining antifreeze in a secure location as directed on the product label.
5. Inspect all connections for leaks and confirm the system is fully winterized.
Winterizing Notes
• Always use non-toxic RV antifreeze specifically designed for potable water systems.
• Avoid using automotive antifreeze, as it is toxic and not safe for drinking water systems.
• Following these detailed instructions ensures your travel trailer is thoroughly protected from freezing temperatures,
safeguarding the plumbing system and water heater.
• Perform regular checks throughout the winter months to identify any potential issues early.
