Cassette Toilet Operation
The Thetford cassette toilet system in your MDC trailer is designed for
convenience and ease of use. Follow these steps for proper operation.
Before Use
1. Ensure Waste Tank Readiness:
Verify that the cassette waste tank is correctly installed.
Add approximately 2 liters of water to the tank along with a Thetford-
approved toilet additive (
Aqua Kem Blue or Aqua Kem Green) to break
down waste and reduce odors.
2. Fill the Flush Tank (if applicable):
If your trailer has a separate flush water tank, fill it with clean water and add
Thetford Aqua Rinse to maintain freshness and prevent staining.
Using the Toilet
1. Open the Valve Blade:
Before using the toilet, open the valve blade by pulling the handle located beneath the bowl.
This allows waste to enter the cassette tank efficiently.
2. Flushing the Toilet:
Press the flush button or operate the flush lever to rinse the bowl.
Close the valve blade after flushing to prevent odors from escaping into the bathroom.
After Use
Always keep the toilet bowl and seal area clean by flushing with sufficient water.
If the waste tank is nearing capacity, empty it promptly to avoid overfilling and potential leakage.
DO NOT dispose of non-biodegradable items (e.g., wipes, sanitary products) in the toilet.
These can clog
the waste tank and lead to operational issues.
Bathroom Care and Maintenance
Proper care and maintenance of your bathroom, including the Thetford cassette toilet
system, ensures optimal performance and hygiene. Follow these guidelines for cleaning,
sanitization, and maintenance.
Approved Cleaning Products
Always use Thetford-approved cleaning and treatment products to maintain hygiene and
system longevity.
Waste Holding Tank Treatment:
o Use Aqua Kem Blue or Aqua Kem Green (eco-friendly) to break down waste and
reduce odors.
Cassette Tank Cleaner:
o Use Thetford Cassette Tank Cleaner periodically to remove deposits and
maintain a clean tank.
Grey Water Tank Treatment:
o Use Thetford Tank Freshener to reduce odors and prevent buildup in the grey
water system.
Flush Water Tank (if applicable):
o Use Thetford Aqua Rinse to keep the flush system fresh and prevent staining.
Toilet Bowl & Seal Cleaning:
o Use Thetford Bathroom Cleaner for safe cleaning of the toilet bowl and seals.
o DO NOT use bleach, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as they may damage the seals
and internal components.
Thetford toilet tank chemicals are NOT food-safe.
Do not add these chemicals to your trailer's fresh water
supply.
