• Any supplied or 3rd party vent cover(s) (e.g., low level door vent) should only be used for covering the vents during storage
between use with all LP gas system valves closed. All vents (e.g., low level door vent) shall always be uncovered when the
Caravan is in use.
Isolating Appliances
Internal propane appliances have an isolation valve fitted in the LP gas line. During travel these should be turned to the off
position where practical and always turn the valve on the active propane cylynder off when towing or refueling.
Truma Vario Heat Propane Air Heater Safety
Important Information Before Operating the Heater
• The Truma VarioHeat is designed for use in caravans and recreational vehicles (RVs) only.
• This heater is intended to warm the main living area and internal confined spaces of your trailer. Attempting to heat an
additional annex or external area may exceed its performance capacity.
• Always read the operating instructions before using the appliance.
Prohibited Uses
The VarioHeat must not be used for:
• Directing hot air onto people, animals, or flammable materials.
• Long-term heating in large or enclosed spaces such as garages, sheds, or workshops.
• Drying clothes, shoes, or any other items near or on the heater unit.
• Operation while the vehicle is being refueled, in covered car parks, garages, or on ferries.
Safe Operating Practices
• Do not place objects on or near the heater unit, vents, or exhaust outlets.
• Keep all air intake and output vents clear to ensure proper airflow and prevent overheating.
• Always allow the heater to cool down using the ventilation mode before turning it off.
• Regularly check the exhaust cowl and combustion air intake to ensure they are free from blockages (e.g., slush, ice, leaves).
• Consider the comfort of nearby caravans and the effect of exhaust fumes.
Risks of Injury and Burns
• The heater unit and exhaust can reach high temperatures—do not touch or work on the unit while hot.
• Children should not operate the heater or play near its vents.
• Do not inhale exhaust fumes. Ensure adequate ventilation when operating the heater.
• The heater exhaust gets extremely hot—never use the heater in areas where long grass, vegetation, or flammable materials
may come into contact with the exhaust.
• Check all gas connections before operation and never modify the heater system.
• Do not use the heater while the vehicle is in motion
By following these safety precautions, you can ensure the reliable and safe operation of your Truma VarioHeat system.
