Inverter Functions of the Renogy REGO 3000W Inverter
The Renogy REGO 12V 3000W HF Inverter-Charger is a multi-functional power management device designed for off-grid and
mobile power systems. It serves three primary roles:
1. Inverter Function Converts 12V DC battery power into 110-120V AC power, enabling
the use of household appliances and electronics in your Off-grid Extreme edition trailer.
2. Battery Charger When connected to shore power or a generator, the unit
automatically recharges the battery, ensuring continuous availability of stored power.
3. Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS)Seamlessly switches between battery power and AC
power sources, prioritizing grid power when available while providing uninterrupted
power to connected loads.
This unit is particularly useful for users who need a reliable power source for appliances, tools,
and sensitive electronics, whether on the road, at a remote campsite, or as a backup power
solution at home. Its
pure sine wave output ensures that even delicate devices like laptops,
medical equipment, and televisions operate smoothly without risk of damage.
The following section explains the working logic, basic operation, safety considerations, and
troubleshooting of the inverter functionality of the Renogy REGO 12V 3000W HF Inverter-
Charger.
The Renogy REGO 12V 3000W HF Inverter-Charger integrates an inverter, battery charger, and automatic transfer switch into
a single unit. It operates in three distinct modes:
1. Battery First Mode (DC Power Priority)
The inverter prioritizes power supply from the battery.
Conditions for operation:
o The AC Output Priority is set to "BAT."
o The battery voltage is above the Low Voltage Shutdown threshold.
o The battery has sufficient current to supply connected loads.
If battery voltage drops below the shutdown threshold, the inverter automatically switches to AC power if available.
2. AC First Mode (Grid Power Priority)
The inverter prioritizes power supply from AC sources (shore power or generator).
Conditions for operation:
o The AC Output Priority is set to "AC."
o AC power is available and sufficient for all loads.
If AC power becomes unavailable, the inverter seamlessly switches to battery power,
3. Hybrid Mode (Combined AC and Battery)
If neither AC power nor battery alone can support the total load, both sources work together.
This mode ensures uninterrupted power to critical appliances by supplementing AC power with battery energy when
needed.
Basic Operation
Turning On the Inverter
1. Ensure the battery voltage is within the operating range (11V - 14.8V).
2. Confirm that all circuit breakers and fuses are properly installed.
3. Press the power button on the remote switch, located near the entrance stepwell,to
activate the inverter. The button will stay pressed in and flush when ON.
4. The LED indicators will display system status, confirming the unit is active.
Switching Between Power Sources
The inverter will automatically detect and switch between battery power and AC power based on priority settings.
No user intervention is requiredthis ensures continuous power without manual switching.
Turning Off the Inverter
1. Power down all connected appliances to prevent sudden shutdowns.
