The MVP Sound Pressure Meter
The Sound Pressure Meter (MVP-SP) measures and displays
the level of sound pressure in the listening area. As each
component is demonstrated, the sound pressure level is
displayed on an LED bar graph with divisions from 65 dB to
99 dB. The customer can visually confirm the difference in
sound level between components in systems being
demonstrated. While the Watt meter shows the power
output of the selected Amplifier, the Sound Pressure meter
shows the result of that power after it has passed through a
Speaker.
A microphone (supplied with the unit) is placed in the center
of the listening area. The microphone signal is fed into the
Sound Pressure Meter, and its LED bar graph in turn displays
current sound levels in the demonstration area.
The MVP-SP can be operated as a stand-alone device in any
audio display. But it is specifically designed for use with MTi’s
Speaker Equalizer (MVP-SE – see below) which uses the MVP-
SP output to determine the attenuation level for Speakers.
Once installed, operation of the SP Module is fully automatic
and requires no user action.
