Switching Modules
The inputs and/or outputs of each component product in a Matrix System display are connected directly to
numbered positions on one or more Switching Modules. The MVP Control Panel sends binary instructions to
the Switching Modules through the Control Cables, causing the Modules to switch the signals to and from
the selected components.

Switching Modules are available in a number of different configurations for switching
virtually any component type (see Figure 20). Most configurations have two variations; one with component
turn-on relays (listed in bold below) that will switch up to 5 amps of DC power to trigger each auto stereo
component as it is selected; and one without, for components that do not need power, or for systems in
which power switching is not required. If power turn-on capability becomes desirable after a non-power
Module is installed, an MTi Model 0102 Component Power Turn-On Module may be installed (see page
58). For simplicity, the illustrations in this section will show only the versions with component turn-on relays.
Most Switching Modules contain one or more sets per position of discrete four-pole relays for isolated
negative and positive signal paths. These allow each Module to switch either one or two sets of signal leads
(L+, R+, L- & R-) for up to eight components.
Each Switching Module is supplied with an eight-foot Control Cable which connects the Switching Modules
to one another and to the MVP Control Panel. Longer Control Cables may be ordered from MTi.
In the following chart, Modules with 12V Turn-On Strips are listed in bold type.
