5. Mount the Switching Modules
Locate the Switching Modules in your display as near the components they will be switching as possible,
taking care to allow space for routing the wires and cables you will be adding later. It is much easier to run
one 20-foot Control Cable than eight or more sets of 20-foot Speaker wires. If you need to order longer
Control Cables, call MTi Sales or Customer Service.
Securely attach the Switching Modules to their mounting surfaces. The stand-off spacers keep the Switching
Modules the correct distance from the surface. Be sure, however, that there are no metal objects (staples,
nails, etc.) on the mounting surface, as contact between the underside of the Switching Module and any
metal might result in malfunctions.
6. Interconnect Switching Module Control Cables
Each Switching Module has a set of two connectors at the upper left corner. These are used for the Control
Cables that connect the Switching Modules in each Chain to each other and then connect Switching
Module Chains to the corresponding Dual Chain Module or Watt Meter on the MVP Control Panel.
Connect Switching Modules within each Chain in “daisy chain” fashion. The Sample System Logic Diagram,
pages 97-98, illustrates these connections. (Some older models of Matrix System Switching Modules have
square, 12-connector “Mate ‘n’ Loc” terminals. Functions are identical, however, and newer Matrix System
Switching Modules may be connected into an older System with special adapter cables available from MTi.)
Attach the Control Cables to the first Switching Modules in each Chain at this time; they will be connected
to the MVP Control Panel later.
Do not make Control Cable connections or disconnections with the
MVP Control Panel Power Supply cord plugged into an electrical outlet.
