Testing a Home Audio Switching System
1. Hook up one Receiver, making signal connections to the correct Component Connection
Terminal. (See Component Installation, pages 77-78, for recommended procedures and
options.) Plug in the component’s AC power cord.
2. Hook up one set of Speakers. (See Component Installation, pages 77-78, for recommended
procedures and options.)
3. Select the Receiver and the Speakers by pressing their component selection numbers and
Chain buttons on the MVP Control Panel. Test right and left channels by adjusting balance
controls on the Receiver.
4. Now if your Display contains more than two audio channels (Surround Sound, Subwoofers,
etc.) hook up one set of speakers for each type. Test right and left channels.
5. Now, hook up and test, one at a time, one component each for every Chain in your Display,
to assure that all signal buses are correctly hooked up. Correct any problems before moving
on to the next step.
6. Now, go back and hook up and test all speakers one (pair) at a time, Chain by Chain. Use
the same Receiver to test each speaker (pair). Hook up all the Speakers in a Chain (all
Center Speakers, for example) before moving on to the next Chain. From this point, you will
always be testing new components with components that you already know are connected
properly and working.
7. Next, hook up a second Receiver and test. Continue hooking up and testing all Receivers.
You only need to test them with one set of speakers (Front and Surround Speakers, for
example) since you already know all the speakers work.
8. If you have Sources other than Receivers (Tape Decks, CD players, etc.), test each Source
Chain before moving on.
9 Now, if your system has a separate Amplifier Chain, install and test the Amplifiers one at a
time. Test them with one Source and one set of speakers.
10. If your Switching System contains Processors, hook them up and test, one at a time, as in
step 9.
11. And now that everything works perfectly, open your doors and start selling!
