INSTALLATION
The following section is organized to reflect the four major stages of the installation process:
A. Preparation C. MVP Control Panel Installation
B. Switching Module Installation and Wiring D. Component Wiring and Testing
Within each stage, action items are numbered in the sequence you should follow to install a complete
Matrix System. Depending on the layout of your System, certain topics may not apply. Simply skip ahead to
the next applicable action item.
Preparation
After many years of helping new Switching System owners through the installation process, we’d like to
offer a few suggestions to get you off on the right foot. We strongly suggest that you read through this
section before you start to hook anything up. Since your Matrix Switching System is configured for your own
unique application, this manual can’t give you individual step-by-step instructions on hooking up your
System. However, if you familiarize yourself with the Product Descriptions in the previous section, read
through this section, and study the appropriate System Diagrams, you should have no trouble putting your
Matrix System to work.
Before you begin to install your Switching System – refer to the Sample System Diagrams which start on
page 87 to find detailed diagrams of several typical Systems. By studying these and comparing them to your
System requirements, you will understand the interconnections you need to make between the parts of your
Switching System.
1. Unpacking Your Shipment
During the initial stages of installation, your familiarity with the System is going to increase substantially. The
more of your System that you can see at this point, the better your ability to conceptualize the finished
product. Clear a fairly large, unobstructed area where you can lay out the parts of your System.
Before the fun begins, it is necessary that you take care of the all-important task of unpacking and verifying
your shipment. Remove the switching equipment from the box, keeping all like items together. Start big,
then work to small. Count and compare what you have received with the enclosed packing list. Indicate any
discrepancies between your count and the pack list. Then count again. After careful checking, if it still
appears you do not have everything you need, call our Sales or Customer Service department.
