D. Fuel Quantity Indication Calibration
(PIR-PPS60032-12, Rev. C.)
The Warrior III fuel gauge consists of individual indicators for the left and right fuel tanks contained
in a common instrument. Calibrate any new or replacement gauge prior to installation using the
bench test, below. Once installed, the System Functional Check, below, is used whenever the fuel
quantity indication accuracy is questioned.
(1.) Bench Test
The bench test requires the use of a resistance decade box containing a six position switch
set-up as shown in Figure 2.
(a) Connect a 5 OHM resistor between the ground terminal (GND) and left or right sender
terminal of the side not being tested.
(b) Connect resistance decade to the left or right sender terminal of the side being tested.
(c) Apply 28 ± 1 Vdc, through the resistance decade, to the ground (GND) and positive (+)
terminals.
(d) Low end adjustment:
1 Select position “F” on resistor decade switch.
2 Verify the appropriate instrument needle points to zero (0).
3
If needle does not point to zero (0), adjust null potentiometer, located on bottom of
instrument below side being tested, to center needle on zero (0).
(e) High end adjustment:
1
Select position “A” on resistor decade switch.
2
Verify the appropriate instrument needle points to “F”.
3
If needle does not point to “F”, adjust gain potentiometer, located on bottom of
instrument below side being tested, to center needle on “F”.
(f) Full range check
After low and high end adjustments have been completed check that, for each resistive
value, the gauge indication is as specified in Figure 2.
