NOTE
In a Drop/Insert multiplexer if a user wants to change the configuration of a DI-A or DI-B
common module, or determine the configuration of a DI-A or DI-B common module, the PC
or modem must be plugged into the remote port of the DI-A common module. The reason for
this is as follows:
In a Drop/Insert Multiplexer the DI-A common module is the master and the DI-B common
module is the slave; that is, the DI-B module configuration is stored in the DI-A module. The
DI-A module gets the configuration of the DI-B module via the SCB bus on power turn on
only, and as long as power remains on it does not “look at” DI-Bs configuration again. If the
configuration of DI-B is changed at the DI-B remote port, the DI-A module will have no
knowledge of this.
However, if the configuration of the DI-B module is changed locally via the DI-B front panel
switches, this information will automatically be transfered to the DI-A module and no further
action is required.
