Table 7-1. Valid subaddress field entries
Subaddress Description
TERM
Use this subaddress in commands issued to the CM4 module in an IMUX 2000 terminal multiplexer.
DI-A
Use this subaddress in commands issued to the CM4 module configured to operate in the DI-A mode in
IMUX 2000 drop/insert multiplexers.
DI-B
Use this subaddress in commands issued to the CM4 module configured to operate in the DI-B mode in
IMUX 2000 drop/insert multiplexers.
Cn
Use this subaddress format in commands sent to remotely-controllable channel modules in IMUX 2000
terminal or drop/insert multiplexers.
(n = 1, 2, 36)
Note that "n" is the subaddress number or "card address" of the target channel module within the
mul
tiplexer. This should not be confused with the multiplexer network address.
Ch
annel module subaddresses are set by switches on the channel modules themselves. The card
address is ge
nerally set to the same number as the physical slot the card occupies; for modules in an
Expansion Shelf, to that number plus 18. This is not a requirement, but following this method will
simplify system maintenance.
Each ch
annel module within a given multiplexer must be assigned a
different number. Valid channel
numbers are the integers 1 through 36.
Cons
ult the individual channel module Instruction Data Sheets in Sections 15 through 18 for details on
setting the card address.
DACS
Use this subaddress in commands issued to the DACS chassis
7.3.3 COMMAND FIELD
The third field in the SCL command line is the command field. There are fourteen SCL commands:
"SET", "CONFIG?", "STATUS?", "LOCK", "UNLOCK", “WHO”, “NEXT”, “NEXT_A”,
“NEXT_B”, “EVENT”, “TIME?”, “TRAP?”, “CONFIG2?”, and “STATUS2?”. The last two
commands apply only to redundant multiplexers.
The first three commands ("SET," "CONFIG?," and "STATUS?") can be addressed either to Common
Modules or to channel modules. When issued to a Common Module, these commands must include an
appropriate address - TERM, DI-A, or DI-B. When issued to channel modules, they must include a
subaddress of the form Cn, where n = 1 to 36. The commands ("LOCK" , "UNLOCK" , etc.) refer to
the remote port itself, and can be issued only to Common Modules.
"STATUS?" is the default command if the command field is left blank. This is a convenience feature,
providing a quick method for checking the status of a multiplexer, particularly a terminal multiplexer.
The colon terminating the field, however, must always be present. As noted earlier, if the address field
is left blank, any multiplexer will respond, and if the subaddress field is left blank, its default is TERM.
Combining these with the default for the command field means that a “ <local node>
:TERM:STATUS?:; ” command can be issued to a terminal multiplexer simply by typing three colons
and a semicolon:
:::;
The SCL commands are listed and described in Table 7-2.
