7.3.6 ALLOWABLE CHARACTERS
SCL command line fields may contain valid addresses, subaddresses, commands, parameters and space
characters.
Space characters are ignored, so they can be used to make command lines more readable. For example,
the following three SCL commands are perceived as identical by the multiplexer:
3:TERM:SET:PTIME=EXT;
3:TERM:SET:PTIME = EXT;
3: TERM: SET: PTIME = EXT;
Line feed <LF> characters are also ignored. A terminal or PC may be configured to generate either a
single carriage return <CR> character or a <CR><LF> pair when its [ENTER] (or [RETURN]) key is
pressed.
The comment field may contain any printable ASCII characters.
SCL commands are not case-sensitive. Subaddresses, commands, and parameters may be entered in
upper or lower case, or a combination of both.
