2.3.4 COMMON MODULE INTERFACE ADAPTERS
Each CM4 must be equipped with an interface adapter to connect it to the E1 network. There are two
basic types of interface adapters; electrical interface adapters and optical interface adapters.
2.3.4.1 Electrical Interface Adapters
Electrical interface adapters are used to connect the IMUX 2000 electrically to a E1 network. There are
four types of electrical interface adapters available. These are the MA-271, MA-278, MA-270R and
MA-275R. These are also referred to as module adapters, and are listed in Table 2-1. Also refer to
Figures 2-11 through 2-15.

Notes:
1. RS-232 or Remote connector is used to configure the network or do performance monitoring of the network
using a PC.
2. SCB connector is an external control port used to connect an ILS or DACS to the multiplexer.
3. EXT TMG connector is used to sy
nchronize IMUX clocks with external equipment clocks.
4. These m
odule adapters are used for redundant applications.
