No. Description
1 Acid dosing pump
2 Acid suction pipe
3 pH bypass valves for pH sensor maintenance
4 Control pH sensor
5 Monitor pH sensor (optional)
6 Acid tank with or without a level sensor (this tank is usually located
elsewhere in the greenhouse)
7 Main acid pump switch
8 Acid inlet
9 Manual flush flow valve (filter bypass)
10 Acid circulation valve (filter-bypass)
During installation, first fill part of the acid tank with water. Only when the
system is running and all the air has been bled out should you resume filling
the tank with acid in the correct ratio.
To make the acid dosing ready for use, complete the following steps:
1. Ensure that the protective cover of the pH sensor(s) has been removed.
2. Calibrate the pH sensor(s) (see "pH calibration" on the facing page).
3. Check the connections on the acid pump (are the correct pipes connected to the
correct parts?).
4. Place the suction pipe into the acid tank or bucket that has been partially filled
with water.
5. Bleed the air from the acid pump prior to commissioning.
6. Connect the level sensor of the acid tank.
7. Ensure that the pH bypass valves are open.
8. Check for leaks and remedy any found.
9. Turn the manual flush flow valve half open; this is the best position for most
units. When fine-tuning the control parameters, determine the best position for
the unit concerned.
If desired, you can dilute the nitric acid 38%. When diluting chemical substances,
such as acids, always add the chemical substance to the water and not the water to
the chemical substance. If you are working with a diluted substance, never fill the
acid tank completely. This will allow you to adjust the ratio when fine-tuning the
dosing control parameters.
Consult the acid pump manual to safely bleed the air from the pump.
Nitric acid is recommended as a cleaning agent because many greenhouse
operations use it as a fertilizer. If you wish to use a different type of acid than
nitric acid, please consult with Ridder Growing Solutions first to ensure that
the acid is suitable for cleaning the unit.
