4.4 Connecting electrical components
To connect the electrical components, complete the following steps:
1. Measure the supply voltage and make sure that it matches the design
specifications of the unit. Contact Ridder Growing Solutions should this not be
the case.
2. Connect the supply voltage according to the included electrical circuit diagram.
3. Connect external meters, pumps and valves according to diagrams.
4. Switch on the supply voltage with the main switch.
5. Switch on the ballasts with the main ballast switch in the ballast cabinet.
6. Switch on the ballast cabinet fan with the button in the ballast cabinet.
7. Make sure that all the components are receiving power by checking for flashing
LEDs.
4.5 Connecting acid dosing components
Nitric acid 38% is recommended for cleaning the quartz tubes. A separate acid pump
draws the acid from an acid tank or container. A pH sensor measures the dosage.
While the quartz tubes are being cleaned, water will not be led through the filter (filter
bypass).
Nitric acid 38% is a highly corrosive acidic liquid. Handle it with great care to
avoid injury to people or damage to the unit. Also consult the safety
precautions in the section "Chemicals" on page21.
