6.3.2 Disinfection active
During the disinfection process, water is pumped through the filters and past the UV
lamps, and is finally collected in the disinfected tank. If the VitaLite-E and C is fitted
with a mixing valve, the blending ratio between drain water and clean water can be
controlled during the disinfection process. If the VitaLite-E and C is equipped with an
EC sensor, this ratio can also be controlled based on the EC value.
The blending ratio can further be adjusted based on the measured quantity of water in
the drain tank. There are specific settings for this purpose.
Figure 6-4: Disinfection process
The VitaLite-E and C is equipped with an acid dosing pump and acid sensor, which
allows it to lower the pH level of the water during the disinfection process. This
minimizes the crystallization of salts, such as calcium sulphate, in the radiation
chambers. In other words, the acid keeps the radiation chambers clean for longer.

6.3.3 Stopping disinfection and post-flushing
The disinfection process can be stopped manually, either by activating a setting in the
software or by pressing the stop button on the control panel. Disinfection will stop
automatically once the system measures the preset volume of water in the
disinfected tank or the preset end time is reached.
Disinfection will stop when:
The drain tank is empty (i.e. the preset minimum volume of water is reached).
The drain tank is full (i.e. the preset maximum volume of water is reached).
An external contact (option) for stopping disinfection is activated.
Maintenance processes start (e.g. filter flushing, cleaning quartz tubes).
Once disinfection is complete, the unit can be flushed with a preset number of litres of
fresh water. This is called post-flushing. See also: "Drain groups / Drain group
characteristics" on page80.
