3.1.2 Multiple safeguarding
Beam coding allows device configura-
tions in which the individual devices
would normally influence each other
(
Fig.
). In addition, this coding also
prevents the influences of ambient light
sources (e.g. welding sparks).
The test input may only be used to
check any connected switching elements
3.2 Electrical installation
3.2.1 Connection of sender and
receiver
Figs. 4 to 8
in the appendix show the
connection diagram for the sender and
receiver of the MSL.
Test inputs 3 and 4 of the sender are
not linked when the MSL is supplied.
A normally closed contact from the
machine control unit is applied to the
test input (MCC = machine control
contact). The test procedure is triggered
when the normally closed contact is
open for at least 100 ms.
This test must be carried out at a point
during the machine cycle when no
hazardous motion is present.
