5.5.2.2 Wiring and connecting PROFIBUS connectors
Requirement

PROFIBUS connector
Use only the recommended PROFIBUS connectors from Siemens. For more, see also
section Accessories (Page 41).
NOTICE
Material damage resulting from the connection of a PROFIBUS connector to service
connection X8
Connecting a PROFIBUS connector to service connection X8 can damage the SIDOOR controller
and the connected device.
For this reason, only connect a bus connector to connection X705.
Note
• Always use shielded cables.
• For stationary operation, it is advisable to remove the insulation of the shielded cable and to
establish contact on the shield/PE conductor bar.
• If there is a potential dierence between the grounding points, an impermissibly high
compensating current can ow through the shield grounded at both ends. To rectify the
problem, do not, under any circumstances, open the shield of the bus cable.
Install an additional equipotential bonding conductor parallel to the bus cable to carry the
shield current.
