Printing Materials
Objetprintersproducemodelsbyjettingthinlayersofprintingmaterials
onthebuildtray,untilthecompletemodelisformed.Twotypesofmaterial
areusedinthisprocess:
Modelmaterial—whichmakesupthefinishedmodel
Supportmaterial—whichfillsgapsandspacesinthemodelduring
printing,andisremovedafterprinting
Storage
MaterialsusedforprintingmodelswithObjetprintersaremadeofresins,
whicharecomposedofreactivemonomersandoligomers.Although
printingmaterialsaresuppliedinsealed,UVproofcartridges,caremustbe
takenwhenstoringandhandlingthem.Followthese guidelinestoprotect
operatorsandtheenvironment,andtoensure
optimumresults.
Toensureproductstability,donotallowthesematerialstocomeinto
contactwithmetal.Plasticsmadefrommonomersolublesubstances
(suchaspolystyreneorpolyvinylchloride)arenotsuitableforstoring
PolyJetprintingmaterials.
Whennotinuse,keepmaterialcartridgestightlysealedtoprevent
contamination,theeffectsofexposuretoUVradiation,andaccidental
spillage.
Storematerialcartridges indoors,inadryareawithadequate
ventilation,between16–27degreesCelsius(60–81degreesFahrenheit).
Ifexposedtoheatorflames,cartridgesmightburstorignite.
Signsofprematurepolymerizationinmaterialcartridgesinclude
bulging,leaking,theemissionofheat,andunusualodor.Exposureto
heatcancauseresintogelinthecartridge.
Makesurethatmaterialcartridgesarestoredinaccordancewithall
localregulationsandotherapplicablerequirements.
Shelf Life
Materialsusedforproducingmodelshavealimitedshelflife.Theexpiry
dateonthelabelisvalidwhenproperlystoredinanundamaged,
unopenedcartridge.Alwaysrotateyourstock,sothatthecartridgewith
theearliestdateisusedfirst.
Exposure to
Light
Ifprintingmaterialsarenotintheirsealedcartridges,makesuretoshield
themfromsunlightandothersourcesofUVradiation,suchasfluorescent
andmercuryvaporlights.ExposuretoUVradiationcausesanincreasein
viscosityand,eventually,solidification.
