Configuring an iSTAR eX Controller for 8 Readers
To activate the iSTAR eX eight reader option, insert an iSTAR eX8 USB
Security Key into the panel. The extra readers will only work while the USB
Security Key is inserted. If the key is removed, readers #5 - #8 will be non-
operational.
You can order the iSTAR eX controller with or without the USB 8 Reader
Security Key. Refer to Appendix B, page B-1
for a description of the iSTAR eX
components and list of iStar eX part numbers.
You can order an iSTAR eX controller that ships with the USB 8 Reader
Security Key, or
You can order the USB 8 Reader Security Key as a separate item. The key
is labeled “Software House - iSTAR eX 8 Security Key” and ships
separately. Order one security key for each iSTAR eX controller that can
support up to eight (8) readers.
NOTE
To activate the 8 Reader option, refer to “Using the USB Security Key to
Enable Readers 5-8” on page 4-39.

The iSTAR eX 8 Reader Option applies to the following models:
STAREX008W-64
STAREX008W-64NPS
STAREX008-UPG
NOTE
UL has only evaluated the use of eight (8) RM readers or four (4) direct
connect Wiegand readers with the iSTAR eX.
