Problem Probable Cause Remedy
Sensor is not sending
data, or sends erroneous
or suspect data.
QML data logger is
damaged.
If there are multiple simultaneous sensor malfunctions
in the same QML data logger, the logger may be
damaged.
Replace the logger and return the damaged one to
Vaisala for repair.
Error in the setup. Check the output of the warnings and errors
commands for indication of the probable cause:
1. Connect the maintenance cable and start AWS
Client.
2. Type the commands warnings and errors.
See Troubleshooting with Commands (page 129).
Sensor malfunction.
Excitation failure. Check the sensor status message related to the
excitation voltages. If the damaged sensor is powered
by the QML data logger, it may cause an overload.
Sensor is disconnected. If the malfunctioning sensor is measured by the QML
data logger:
1. Open the sensor calibration view in AWS Client.
See Determining Sensor Status (page 127).
2. Check the sensor status and compare the value
against the sensor status list in Vaisala Automatic
Weather Station AWS310-SITE System Description.
If the malfunctioning sensor has diagnostic features,
use them to find the cause. For example, WMT700 is
such a sensor.
1. Connect the maintenance cable and start AWS
Client.
2. Access the service interface for the intelligent
sensors through the QML data logger. See
Opening Service Connection to Sensor (page 121).
Communication is not
working properly.
Weak signal or no signal
in the communication
network.
Whenever possible, use an external device to verify
that the communication infrastructure is working.
Network infrastructure
failure.
Data is not stored to the
memory card.
Memory card is not
properly inserted.
Check the QML data logger LEDs for the status of the
memory card. See Determining QML Data Logger
Operation Mode (page 120).
Memory card is
corrupted.
Memory card is not
correctly formatted.
Memory card is full.
