Chapter 6 Working with Pages
73
Timed Duration
Use Timed Duration to control the exact length of time the page
remains on-screen. The value is in the format m:ss.n — where m=min-
utes, ss=seconds, and n=tenths of a second. You can set the value from
0:00.0 to 9:59.9 (just under 10 minutes).
To set timed duration:
1 Insert the cursor in the page you want to set on the Editing
Screen, then press
EFFECTS/IN.
2 Press
TAB as necessary to activate the Duration sub-menu.
3 Press the
ARROW keys as necessary to select and highlight
the Timed Duration item in the sub-menu.
4 Type the value you want to set.
The field fills in from the right, with each successive charac-
ter moving the preceding one to the left. So, to set a duration
of 1 minute, 6.2 seconds, type 1062; to set a duration of 1
and a half seconds, type 15; and so forth.
Infinite Duration
Selecting the infinite duration option causes the page to appear on the
screen and remain there until you take some action to remove it. Nor-
mally, you use this option when you want to control page playback
using the
PLAY key. That is, you can press PLAY to start the project and
display the first page (set to infinite duration). The page remains on the
screen until you again press
PLAY.
Scroll and Crawl
Scroll causes the page to roll vertically on the screen, starting off-
screen bottom and finishing off-screen top. You often see this done
with movie credits.
A Scroll is similar to a slide-up transition, except that it scrolls straight
through without ever stopping in the middle.
If a page has more than about 40 lines (depending on the amount of
text in each line), it might not scroll smoothly. If the memory warning
appears when you attempt to play the page, break it into multiple
pages or remove some lines.
