Safety information
Read the following safety information before replacing the unit.
Procedure
Use this procedure to replace an B-8102-A or B-8112-A business ONT.
1 Deactivate the ONT services (DLP 131). If you are using the SLID feature, this step
is not required. The ONT and the services can remain in service (IS).
2 Unplug the UPS and disconnect the power, alarm, Ethernet, POTS, DS1/E1 and
Coaxial cables from the ONT (DLP 132).
3 Disconnect the fiber optic cable from the SC/APC fiber optic connector and
remove the ONT (DLP 133).
4 Mount the new ONT (DLP 158) and reattach the Ethernet (DLP 102), DS1/E1
(DLP 104), POTS (DLP 103), and coaxial cables (DLP 116).
Danger 1 — Hazardous electrical voltages and currents can cause
serious physical harm or death. Always use insulated tools and follow
proper safety precautions when connecting or disconnecting power
circuits.
Danger 2 — Make sure all sources of power are turned off and have no
live voltages present on feed lines or terminals. Use a voltmeter to
measure for voltage before proceeding.
Danger 3 — Always contact the local utility company before
connecting the enclosure to the utilities.
Danger 4 — Observe all local and national laws and regulations that
may be applicable to this installation.
Warning 1 — The earth bonding terminal shall be connected to an
approved earth connection before the ac power is applied.
Warning 2 — This equipment is ESD sensitive. Proper ESD protection
must be used when entering the TELCO Access portion of the ONT.
Note — See the ONT technical specification documentation in the
B-8102-A and B-8112-A unit data sheet for the temperature ranges.
Warning 1 — When installing the B-8102-A or B-8112-A business ONT
according to inter-building wiring practices, a minimum 26 AWG
telecommunication line cord must be installed as the POTS cable for
those POTS ports configured as TNV-3 ports.
Warning 2 — For TNV-3 POTS ports, Primary Protector (listed to
UL497) with secondary protection that is current limiting must be
installed on all POTS wiring entering a premises.
