ONT Product Information Guide
5 How is the business ONT being replaced powered?
a If powered by an FlexNet FMPS -150W 48 V dc UPS, see step 6.
b If powered by a UPS other than the FlexNet FMPS -150W 48 V dc UPS, plug
the UPS back into the power source (DLP 158).
6 Reestablish the class of wiring used with the FlexNet FMPS -150W 48 V dc UPS:
a For class 1 wiring that requires the connection of separate power and alarm
cables to a Phoenix connector, see DLP 114.
b For class 2 wiring that requires the connection of a combined power and
alarm cable to a Phoenix connector, see DLP 111.
7 If used, configure the SLID (DLP 129).
8 If required, clean the fiber optic connection using one of the following two
methods:
a If you are approved service personnel, use authorized practices to handle,
inspect, and clean the fiber optic connection.
b If you are not approved service personnel, have approved service personnel
trained to work with optic fiber clean the fiber optic connection.
See DLP 134 for more information about fiber optic handling, inspection, and
cleaning.
Warning 1 — When installing or replacing an ONT or LP MDU with the
FMPS 150 W power supply indoors with class 2 type wiring (for example,
CM-type cable) for the power, restrict the power cable to 10 feet (3.05
m) in length and do not run the cabling through walls or plenums.
Warning 2 — When installing the FMPS 150 W power supply indoors
more than 10 ft (3.05 m) from the ONT or LP MDU, follow the
manufacturers installation instructions. For ONTs or LP MDUs installed
outdoors, it is recommended to follow the guidelines in the NEC for a
Class 1 circuit in a wet location. If installed indoors, follow the
guidelines in the NEC for a Class 1 circuit excluding the wet location
requirements.
Note — A new SLID or the old SLID may be used with the replacement
ONT. If a new SLID is used, the new SLID must also be programmed at
the P-OLT using TL1 or a network manager. If the old SLID is used, no
changes need to be made at the P-OLT; see the CLI and TL1 commands
document for more details.
Danger — Fiber optic cables transmit invisible laser light. To avoid eye
damage or blindness, never look directly into fibers, connectors, or
adapters.
