5 Manual Defibrillation
5.1 Overview
The i6 supports external defibrillation paddles, multi-function pads, and internal
defibrillation paddles. The external defibrillation paddles are a multifunctional all-in-one model
for adults/children. The external defibrillation paddle handle supports charging, discharging, and
energy selection, and has a charging completion indicator and impedance indicator. This chapter
describes how to use manual asynchronous defibrillation and manual synchronous defibrillation.
To perform manual defibrillation, a proper assessment of the patient's rhythm type must be
made to decide whether asynchronous or synchronous defibrillation is required and select
appropriate energy settings for charging and shocks. During defibrillation, the system prompts
the user with a text message on the screen to perform the procedure.
In manual defibrillation mode, when the charge button is pressed to start charging, NIBP
measurement will be stopped if NIBP measurement is in progress. After the shock is delivered or
after the internal discharge has been performed, the measurement will automatically resume if it
is under NIBP automated measurement mode. In manual measurement mode, NIBP
measurement can be manually resumed.
After entering the manual defibrillation mode, the system enters the alarm off state by
default. Press the " " button on the panel to turn on the alarm.
Warnings:
• When manual synchronous defibrillation is performed, if the ECG waveform is
monitored through the external paddles, the artifact caused by the paddle movement may
be similar to an R wave and a defibrillation shock will be triggered.
• Do not use liquid conductive agents, only use the conductive paste specified or
approved by the company.
• When the paddles are used to treat the patient, they should be placed on the patient's
body flatly, and the pressure should be applied evenly and should not use excessive force to
cause other injuries to the patient.
• To defibrillate a pediatric patient, an appropriate level of energy must be selected.
• Do not place the paddles on your body to verify that their connection is valid.
