The NIBP reading is affected by the measurement position, the patient's position,
motion, and physiological state. If in doubt about the accuracy of the measurement results, check
the vital signs of the patient by other means, and then check whether the Defibrillator Monitor is
functioning properly.
10.2 NIBP Measurement Steps
10.2.1 Measurement Preparation
1. Select the correct patient category.
2. Connect the inflation tube to the defibrillator monitor.
3. Select the appropriate cuff (the cuff is marked with the appropriate limb
circumference). Cuff width should be 40 % of limb circumference (50 % for neonates) or 2/3 of
upper arm length. The inflated portion of the cuff should be long enough to cover the 50-80 % of
the limb.
4. Attach the cuff to the upper arm or thigh of the patient and ensure that the mark φ is
located exactly on the artery. Make sure the cuff is not too tightly wrapped, otherwise it may
cause discoloration or even ischemia. The edge of the cuff should be within the marked range,
otherwise, the cuff should be replaced.
5. Connect the cuff to the inflation tube, avoid squeezing the tube and ensure that the
tube is smooth and free of tangles.
6. If the Defibrillator Monitor is not powered on, turn the mode selection switch to
monitoring mode.
Caution:
Incorrect NIBP cuff size or bending may cause inaccurate measurement results.
During NIBP measurement, avoid touching or squeezing the cuff and air tube.
Otherwise, the measurement results may be inaccurate.
10.2.2 Measurement Method
The defibrillator monitor offers two blood pressure measurement methods: manual
measurement and automated measurement. This can be set up by referring to the following
steps:
Automated measurement
1. Open the main menu screen, select [Basic Configuration], and open the [NIBP settings]
menu.
2. Set [NIBP Measurement Interval] to an option other than "Manual".
3. The first measurement is initiated manually. After the measurement is completed, the
Defibrillator Monitor will automatically and repeatedly initiate the measurement according to the
set time interval.
