The emergency stop switch should be pressed only in an
emergency situation such as
• Safety mechanism fails to stop door when an obstruction is
present
• Steam enters the chamber when the door is open
NOTE: An alarm is generated when the emergency stop switch is
pressed. An emergency stop key is required to reset the switch.
Refer to alarm procedure to clear alarm.
5.11.1 Emergency Stop Key An emergency stop key is required to reset the emergency stop
switch.
NOTE: The emergency stop key should be retained by the
department supervisor.
Resetting the Switch:
1. Insert emergency stop key.
2. Turn emergency stop key counterclockwise.
a. Alarm clears
b. Cycle aborts
c. Sterilizer resumes normal operation
5.11.2 Emergency Stop
Guard
The emergency stop guard (see Figure 5-12) helps prevent the
operator from accidentally pressing the emergency stop switch.
5.11.3 Emergency Stop Label The emergency stop label is located above the emergency stop
switch (see Figure 5-12 and Figure 5-14).
