How to troubleshoot a tool changer that will not lock on my ATI Technologies Industrial Equipment?
    • O
      onguyenAug 3, 2025
If the ATI Technologies Industrial Equipment tool changer won't lock or unlock, or the lock sensor isn't showing a locked state, there might be several reasons: * Check for sufficient air pressure and proper pneumatic valve function to the lock/unlock ports. * Ensure air pressure vents correctly from the de-energized lock/unlock ports. * Inspect pneumatic connections and solenoid cables for damage or looseness. * Remove any debris between the master and tool plates and confirm mounting fasteners are secure. * Clean and lubricate the ball bearings and cam if they're not moving smoothly. * Verify the master and tool plates are within the specified No-Touch zone and re-teach the robot if needed. * Troubleshoot the control/signal module or air/valve adapter.

If the Ready-To-Lock (RTL) signal isn't activating when the master and tool plates are mated on your ATI Technologies Industrial Equipment, it could be due to the tool not being positioned correctly. Try re-teaching the robot to bring the master and tool plates closer together before attempting to lock. Also, inspect the RTL sensors and cables for any damage and ensure the sensor connections to the control/signal module or air adapter are secure. Replace any damaged RTL sensors as needed.
