 To configure coders:
1. Open the Coders page (Configuration tab > VoIP menu > Coders and Profiles >
Coders).

2. Configure coders according to the parameters described in the table below.
3. Click Submit, and then reset the device with a save ("burn") to flash memory.
Table 20-1: Coders Table Parameter Descriptions
Parameter Description
Coder Name
[CodersGroup0_Name]
Defines the coder.
Note: Each coder type (e.g., G.729) can be configured only once
in the table.
Packetization Time
[CodersGroup0_pTime]
Defines the packetization time (in msec) for the coder. The
packetization time determines how many coder payloads are
combined into a single RTP packet.
Rate
[CodersGroup0_rate]
Defines the bit rate (in kbps) for the coder.
Payload Type
[CodersGroup0_PayloadType]
Defines the payload type if the payload type (i.e., format of the
RTP payload) for the coder is dynamic.
Note: Both GSM-FR and MS-GSM coders use Payload Type 3.
When using SDP, it is not possible to differentiate between the
two. Thus, it is recommended to configure only one of these
coders in the table.
