Tactile Shaker Devices
In addition to subwoofers, which are speakers designed to output primarily low frequencies, there is
another category of low frequency devices designed to supplement a mix and enhance the listening
and mixing experience of the user. These tactile devices are known as bass shakers, butt kickers, or
throne shakers depending on how they are implemented. The Aviom BOOM System simplies the
connection of tactile devices to personal mixers.
Typically, the frequency range of these devices is restricted to 500Hz and below, so it is most likely
they will be used in conjunction with headphones or earbuds. The Stereo Mix Out and the Mono Mix
Out jacks of the A640 will be used simultaneously in this case.
Connect earbuds or headphones to the Stereo Mix Out; connect an XLR cable from the Mono Mix
Out of the A640 to the input of the bass shaker device. An adapter cable may be required if the
shaker device cannot accept a line-level balanced XLR signal.
