1. Safety
1.2 Safety training to be provided by the installer
WARNING: The installer is responsible that the user is instructed. The user will sign a docu ment to conrm
that the instructions have been received and understood.
Users denition
The Prometheus is intended for persons w ho have been instructed and trained by a skilled person (installer or service personnel)
to identify energy sources that may cause injury and to take precautions to avoid unintentional contact with or exposure to those
energy sources.
The skilled person must instruct the user about:
High intensity light beam. The user must respect the exclusion z one, b ased on the light beam Hazard Distance (HD).
Dangerous energy sources inside the projector. The user is not allowed to remove any cover from the projector.
Small glass parts can leave the projector in the event of lamp explosion. Keep 1 m (40 in.) d istance from the air outlet side of
the projector during oper ation.
The installation, m aintenance or service is for skilled persons on ly.
The requ irements for a restricted access location and an exclusion zone.
Restricted access location
To protect untrained persons and children, the projector must be installed in a restricted access location. The denition of a
restricted access location is a location for equipment where both of the following paragraphs app ly:
Access can o nly be gained by skilled persons (installer or service personnel) or persons who have been instructed and trained
by a skilled person. The p ersons must have been instructed about the reasons for the restriction applied to th e loca tion and
about the precautions that shall be taken.
Access is only possible through the us e of the t ool o r lock and key, or other m eans of security, and is controlled by the authority
responsible for the location.
Exclusion zone
The projector radiates hea t on its external surfaces and from ventilation ducts during normal o peration. E xposing ammable or
combustible materials into close p roximity of this projector c ould result in the spontaneous ignition of that material, resulting in a
re. For this reason, it is absolutely necessary to leave a n exc lusion zone around all external surfaces of the projector whereby no
ammable or c ombus tible materials are present:
The exclusion zone must not be less than 40 c m (16 in.).
Loose papers or other objects may not be nearer to the projector than 10 cm (4 in.) on any side.
Never look into the exhaust output on top of the p rojector. High luminance, UV radiation and glas s particles in the event of a
lamp explosion cou ld result in damage to the eye. The installation o f an exhaust s ystem on top of the projector is mandatory
before operating the projector.
To protect untrained users and children against high intensity light beams, the light beam Hazard Distance (HD) shall be taken into
account. See "Light beam Hazard Distance (HD)", page 10.
