3.46 Stabilized differential protection for machines 87MPDIF
3.46.1 Overview
For machines (motor or generator) above 2MW, or when the capacity is 2MW but the sensitivity
of fast overcurrent protection is insufficient, stable differential protection should be used. Stable
differential protection is used as the main protection for machines in case of phase to phase short
circuits. The CT of ordinary current stable differential protection can be installed at the switch
cabinet outlet of the power supply cable, and the protection range can include the power supply
cable of the machines.
